Bodywork + ENergetic Alginment

Picture
The modalities offered have a base in eastern healing culture. Including but not limited to Shiatsu Acupressure, Craniosacral, and Reiki Healing. Also offered are Swedish massage for relaxation and Deep Tissue for a therapeutic approach.

Sunyata is a Buddhist term meaning the emptiness within form. All forms and phenomena eventually “die” or rather transform. We live in a world that is constantly changing and so are we, these changes can be turbulent. This bodywork is designed to help the individual connect to the timeless, formless, stillness within their being. Creating a stability in merging with the rocky ever shifting waves of life. Our physical difficulties can be effected by and even directly stem from mental, emotional, and energetic blockages. By clearing the dam in the river of our body’s meridians everything begins to flow in balance. Our past accidents, injuries, and traumas can be lodged in our physical form, by getting back in touch with our body (though touch) we can begin to release this stagnant energy from our past. We then can connect ourselves to the present moment, back to the only thing truly tangible that we have the power to work with. The body works together synergistically with the soul inhabiting it, connecting the two is key to move deeper into integrative healing.

CraniosAcral therepy

Craniosacal therepy is a holistic bodywork/energy healing modaility including the connective tissue, nerves and bones of the spinal area and cranium. It was developed in the early 19th century by several different osteopaths that shared an interest in the Cranio-sacral system.
Craniosacral therepy is done fully clothed and with touch as light as a the weight of a nickle. The focus is on connecting and balancing the different bones of the the skull, spinal cord, tailbone or sacrum, as well as creating a safe space for the cerebral spinal fluid to flow harmoniously resetting the entire nervous system.
~
How does it work? What’s the science behind it?

Biologically, the subtle physical manipulation of the meninges in the brain through light palpitations of the sutures alters the rhythmic fluctuations in the cerebral spinal fluid and can then balance it by restoring it to its natural rythmn.
From a Quantum physics perspective, subatomic particulars behave differently under the presence of an observer. The practitioner is basically neutralizing his energy/ perception enough to create a gentle space for the subject being observed to unwind and return to a natural state.
Another way to say it: “Allowing a open neutral space for the bones to be themselves”
When we let go of forcing things to be a certain way, there is then room for things to be as they are, and then the resistance to what IS dissolves. Peace then emerges.

Reiki healing

Reiki is an ancient healing modality dating back thousands of years. Its roots began as a Tibetan Buddhist practice that went dormant and then was brought back to life in the in the late 1800s by Dr. Mikao Usui (a Japanese Buddhist). “Rei” is a Japanese word meaning higher mind consciousness, it is a deeper knowing that understands each individual completely. It knows where all the splits and cracks are in the person and how to heal them. “Ki” meaning life force energy also related to the terms ”prana” in Sanskrit, and “chi” in Chinese traditions. Ki represents the non physical energy at the very core of all things.

How does it work? What’s the science behind it?

Reiki is a very simple but powerful technique infusing ones positive intention with ancient wisdom and universal consciousness. Basically the person that has been attuned to the vibration of reiki channels the healing energy to the receiver. Thoughts produce a vibration, everything we perceive in our physical existence is at its core variations of sound and light, which are also forms of vibration. Therefore, how could ones throughts and intention not influence the vibration of others? Reiki involves extremely light -to no touch, and can create deep relaxation as well as somatic release.

Extra MeRidain Acupressure

This is an acupressure technique used as a airplane route or fast track to aligning multiple different meridians at one time. It has all the benefits of shiatsu acupressure and more!. Master points of several different meridians are held together for 1 to 2 minutes at a time in a sequence.

What’s the Science behind it? How Does it work?

In traditional Chinese medicine, it is believed that everything in nature has a purpose, in the cycles of nature balance and create each other. Natures elements reflect and show up in our bodies. When the body is in balance with nature the flow of energy or “Qi” meaning “life force energy” is distributed evenly and harmoniously throughout the body. When this happens all of the organs, blood, tissues, brain and nervous system are in alignment and functioning at their optimal level.
Many different things can throw the body out of balance. Including but not limited to, diet, stress, lifestyle, and trauma or injury. Meridian lines are considered to be rivers in the body of “Qi” flowing up and down. Acupoints are much like dams in the river that can be pressed and remove blocked “Qi”
Much like Acupuncture the points are held for a longer amount of time therefore more blocked energy or “Qi”can be released.
There are specific sequences that are made to have certain deliberate effects. Such as balancing the left and right sides of the brain, or regulating hyper or hypo energy (anxiety and depression), or Balancing masculine and feminine energies. These are just a few examples.

So why Acupressure not Acupuncture?
what’s the difference?

Acupressure and Acupuncture are equally effective, they both do relatively the same thing. However depending on what you’re looking for, one can be more pleasurable experience than another. A lot of people especially in modern times crave touch, therefore acupressure does have the advantage of more human contact, and the comfort of their touch. When the practitioner is directly present with the persons energy, the Qi has the assistance of the practitioners consciousness directing its flow.

Swedish massage

Swedish massage dates back to the early 1800's Per Hendrik Ling was the founder. Its the most commonly used style of massage in this day in age. This is your overall feel good fluff and buff spa oriented massage. Swedish massage is a very relaxing fluent dance of long gliding strokes, percussion, compression, and vibration throughout the body. Its generally done with the client unclothed under modest secure sheet draping, and non-allergenic lotion is used for lubrication. Swedish massage primary benefit is to activate the parasympathetic nervous system promoting relaxation and allowing the body to return to its natural rest and repair state.
-
How does it work? Whats the science behind it?

Manual manipulation of connective tissue turns not only off the sympathetic nervous system ( fight or flight) and turns on the Parasympathetic ( rest and digest) but it also increases circulation, helps improve metabolism, and pumps the lymphatic system boosting the immune systems function. Once in a relaxed state breathing will deepen improving respiration, which goes hand in hand with circulation of the blood, which then effects nutrient absorption and digestion. Moving the connective tissues around in turn also moves the blood, lymph and restores every natural process in the body. Massage is a not a luxury, its basic health maintenance.

Deep tissuE

Deep Tissue is done through a variety of deep pressure techniques that essentially relaxes tight muscles and increases circulation relieving pain and discomfort.
-
How does it work? What’s the science behind it?

Our connective tissue/ fascia can become bound up or rather “knotted” from our day to day activities as well as our postural habits. Depending how we hold ourselves throughout the day and our activity level, we can accidently create muscular and even structural imbalances that cause certain muscles to work harder in some areas than others, creating pain pockets and tightness in the muscular bands.
By appying slow deep pressure to these points, the muscle relaxes and the bound up connective tissue lengthens thus alleviating pain, strain, tingling and numbness from compressed nerves. It also stimulates blood supply clearing away toxins and debri, as well as affecting the autonomic nevous system, and releasing endorphins.

Gua Sha Scraping is an oriental technique used to relieve inflammation, muscle tightness, and chronic tension. Much like cupping. It is a natural healing remedy and should not be painful. However feels and has similar effects to a deep tissue massage.
-
How does it work? What’s the science behind it?

Gua Sha Scraping is done by rubbing or scraping with a massage tool and oil usually on chronically tight areas of the body such as the back and neck. Gua sha however not limited to those areas
The technique is used to remove what an oriental tradition is called stuck Chi or energy, which is believed to be the main culprit for inflammation.
inflammation being the main cause of disease, discomfort, and imbalances in the body.

The surface of the skin will temporarily change in appearance, due to the bursting of tiny blood vessels called capillaries on the surface of the skin, this creates a slight bruising, and discoloration of pink red and purple.
